PM Concerned Other Leaders Who Attended ASEAN Summits Could Be Infected with Covid-19

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has expressed concern over the possibility that other leaders and representatives of international organizations who attended the ASEAN Summits could have been infected with Covid-19 after he received a positive result while in Indonesia to attend the G20 Summit.

In a special voice message released by the Prime Minister after he landed back in Cambodia on Tuesday night, 15 November, he stated that his health condition is good and that this was only a minor matter. However, he expressed concern over the other leaders who attended the ASEAN Summits in Cambodia.

"What concerns me most about the leaders who left Cambodia to attend the G20 Summit in Indonesia or return to their respective countries is whether or not they have been infected with Covid-19,” he said.

More than half of the leaders currently attending the G20 Summit also attended the ASEAN Summit in Cambodia, including the Presidents of Indonesia and the United States.

Currently, no other leaders or representatives of international organizations have tested positive for Covid-19, besides Prime Minister Hun Sen.

The Prime Minister tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday morning, 15 November 2022, while in Bali, Indonesia to attend the G20 Summit.

The Prime Minister has reassured that his health condition is good and that he is showing no signs of symptoms or illness. He has stated that he will continue to work, with the exception of meeting guests.
